In 2010, Ashirvad Foundation instituted the DhartiRatna Award with the sole objective of recognizing people who provide for the poor and needy. Winners of the award were not just recognized on a public platform, but they also received monetary rewards.
• Around 60-70 nominations are received each year.
• The entries are judged by an independent panel of 3-4 people including Ex-Supreme Court / High Court judges and prominent social activists.
• 11 awards are given out each year in the function, which is mostly held at Sardar Patel Smarak Auditorium.
• Winners get a cash prize of Rs. 11,000 and a Certificate acknowledging their contributions.
Only individuals can apply or get nominated for receiving the Dharti Ratna Award. Those who do exemplary social work at grass roots levels, purely with an intention of serving the society, are eligible for the recognition. The objective is to motivate and encourage them to keep up the great work, while also inspiring others to walk a similar path.
