Ashirvad Foundation

Our History

Today, Ashirvad Foundation operates in 3 major areas – education, medicine and community service. The inspiration behind starting the Foundation came from a small idea to encourage students on the path of education. During the 1970’s, the books available for Chartered Accountants in the market were quite highly priced. From this insight, Mr. R.S. Patel started providing CA reference books and materials free of charge, thus benefiting a large number of students. He also started providing educational loans to under privileged students for their higher education.

In 1993, he started with a guesthouse for needy individuals at just Rs. 5 per day. This idea was inspired by Swami Sachchidanandji). In 1996-97, after successfully running the guesthouse for 3 consecutive years, he started a medical center at the same place to help the poor. In the same year, Lions Club of Naroda provided Ashirvad Foundation (earlier known as Ashirvad Education Trust) with a medical van to support its charity. This van was deputed in the interior villages of Ahmedabad district. Since then, one more medical van was started. The van has been efficient in providing free medical services to hundreds and thousands of underprivileged villagers.

In 2006-07, Ashirvad Foundation (earlier known as Ashirvad Education Trust) shifted their medical center and purchased a place on the ground floor near Sardar Patel Stadium which was convenient for elderly and senior citizens, thus making way for setting up a reading room/study center at the same place where the medical center was earlier functioning.

In 2010, Ashirvad Foundation (earlier known as Ashirvad Education Trust) instituted the DhartiRatna Award with the sole objective of recognizing people who help, donate and provide for the poor and needy. Mr. R.S. Patel with his thoughtful insight, took up this initiative and started giving recognition and monetary rewards to various people from different sectors. This award is felicitated by Governor or Chief Minister of Gujarat. The selection of Award is being done by an independent committee headed by Supreme/High court retired judge. This Award has completed seven events and is now considered as prestigious Award of the Gujarat State.

In 2014, Ashirvad Foundation (earlier known as Ashirvad Education Trust) started a pharmacy in their existing medical center with a noble and beneficial idea of offering flat 15% discount on standard prescribed medicines by doctors and up to 90% discount on generic medicines.
